If you’re a girl, you’re a girl.
If you’re a boy, you’re a boy.
If you’re white, you’re white.
If you’re black, you’re black.
If you’re gay, you’re gay.
If you’re bi, you’re bi.
If you’re straight, you’re straight.
If you’re religious, you’re religious.
If you’re an atheist, you’re an atheist.
If you’re mentally disabled, you’re still human.
If you’re physically disabled, you’re still human.

For everything you are:
You’re perfect.
So who are they to judge you for who you are?

Good solid advice, and an interesting execution. I think that for me, the idea of 'perfection' is less about people's flaws, and more about the belief that you were made to be what you are, and changing yourself does you no good and is disingenuous. Great job! :)

I really like this, I notice a lot of people seem to think this is a poem pointing out people's flaws, but I don't think it could possibly be any further from flaws. It covers a range of topics, different people and says "we are all equal". I don't at all see this as people thinking they are above worthy judgment of others, but that people are perfect in their own way, what makes them them,

It's brilliantly written :)

This is a wonderful poem that I found and it is true, it gave me hope that I won't be teased at school because of my disability, I am human and I do feel and I feel better about myself, Thank you.

No one's perfect the way they are, that's lying to yourself right there. I think when we realize that we're not perfect is the moment that we can start finding out who we really are. Despite that, this poem was a nice read, though i'm at odds with certain things in here. I believe we can change some of these willingly, but that's just me. Anyway, nice read.

Sorry for the late response. Personally, for me, I didn't exactly get equality out of this, I just got self-realization. Not that that's bad, I just think the main idea got mixed up. But it was a good poem, I just didn't agree with some aspects.

Sorry for the even later response Cx

Ah, okay. But if it was about self-realisation, I'd write something like "If you're a total b****" etc.

I guess it's my fault for expressing myself really clumsily ^^; For that I apologise.

Anybody who wants to think himself "perfect in the way he is" and magically above judgement is de facto a psychotic narcissist. Enjoy idolizing them, moron.

Actually being judgmental is the height of narcissism, thinking you're possessed of some magical insight which gives you the right to judge others reeks of self idolization and a serious god complex. Accepting others in all their perfection and imperfection is just the opposite, it's an act of humility, accepting you are no better than anyone else.

And yet here you are, lecturing the world how to be "humble".

You are clinically insane.

And yet again you are wrong. I'm doing nothing for/to the world, I'm targeting you specifically. Also by your response you void the term lecture, by making this a discussion or debate.

"Insane" is an arbitrary and imprecise term now rarely used, save by the ignorant. And though I may or may not be afflicted by psychosis, note please, that I have yet to stoop to name calling or other petty behaviors. Such would be the recourse of the uncivilized man or woman.

...and then, he has the gall to preach about who's "stooping" and "civilized".

Thank you for illustrating why I'm correct.

I did nothing of the sort, I merely asked you to note that I, myself, had not stooped to uncivilized behavior.

No, my friend, it is I who should thank you. Because, while I did nothing to prove your point, I did surrender the "moral high ground" by implying you are ignorant, and your inability to infer my meaning and seize upon the easy victory I handed you, you showed me correct in my assessment of you.

Unfortunately you lack the wit and/or intellect to continue to make this tête-à-tête interesting to me, I fear continuing further will only result in a circular and repetitive exchange. So I bid you farewell and hope your day is a pleasant one.

The best way to obscure the stupidity of convictions is by declaring them symbolic for "equality", or some other lofty nonsense.

Attitudes and demeanors are not born equal, and you know this.

Ugh, the point of this poem is to address how people discriminate race, religion, gender etc.

It isn't about what you think, at all.

I get really defensive for those who have people tell them they're something when they feel like something else. I have a friend who's tall with a slight mental disorder and in middle school some girls were talking about her behind her back. I got fed up because they said no one would want her "tree vagina" and I told them that no one would want to do them because they probably have "cuddies" as a reference to an std. Was that the right choice?

Thank you for clearing up in the comments what you meant by if you're a girl/boy. I think a lot of people will be a lot happier once we get away from thinking of gender as a binary.
